Customer Purchase Policy
Thank you for shopping at Thriftwise. Your purchases support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking through the programs of Fort Bend Women’s Center. To provide a fair and consistent shopping experience for all customers, we kindly ask you to review and follow these store policies:
General Policies
All Sales Are Final
Due to the nature of our resale operations, all sales are final. We do not offer refunds, exchanges, or store credits on any purchases. Please inspect all items carefully before buying.
Merchandise is Sold As-Is
All items — including electronics, furniture, clothing, and household goods — are sold in their current condition. Items may have imperfections or be missing parts. Broken or damaged items are priced accordingly and sold as-is with no guarantee of functionality.
Prices Are Not Negotiable
Our prices are clearly marked and firm. Haggling or price changes at the register are not permitted. Any ongoing promotions or discount days will be posted in-store. No additional discounts apply to sale items unless stated.
Discounts & Promotions
- Discounts and sales apply only during the posted promotion period.
- Discounts cannot be combined unless specifically stated.
- Certain items may be excluded from sales — see signage or ask a staff member for details.
- Terms of the specific promotion apply as advertised.
No Holds or Layaways
Merchandise is sold on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot place items on hold or offer layaway services.
Tax-Exempt Purchases
Customers representing a tax-exempt organization must present valid documentation at the time of purchase. Tax exemptions cannot be applied retroactively.
Electronics
All electronics are sold as-is. We encourage testing in-store where possible; outlets are available upon request. ThriftWise does not guarantee the performance or longevity of any electronic items.
Furniture & Large Item Purchases
Furniture and large items must be picked up within 48 hours of purchase. Items left beyond 48 hours may be resold without refund. Any extension because of weather conditions must be approved by a manager.
Jewelry
Jewelry is final sale. Please confirm your selection before purchase.
Loading & Delivery
ThriftWise staff cannot assist with loading, securing, or tying down furniture. Customers must bring appropriate help and supplies. Delivery is free for furniture purchases over $300 before tax.
Specialty Sales Policies
Tuesday: 30% Off Housewares & Linens
Discount applies to items clearly categorized as housewares and linens. Lamps and picture frames are included. Does not apply to furniture, electronics, or non-housewares items. All sales are final. Rewards points may be redeemed. Sale valid only in store on Tuesdays. No holds or early discounts.
Wow Wednesday: 50% Off All Clothing
Discount applies to all secondhand clothing items unless excluded. Excludes accessories, shoes, purses, jewelry, and specialty items unless specified. Valid only on Wednesday in store. No holds or early discounts. Online items are not included.
Sunday: 50% Off Shoes & Purses
Applies to all secondhand shoes and purses unless marked excluded. Online items are not included. All sales final.
Purple Bag Sale
- Purple Bag must be present, and all items must fit in the bag at checkout.
- Bag must balance on counter for 5 seconds. Items cannot extend more than 3 inches on each side.
- Furniture tags inside the bag do not count; furniture is not eligible for this sale.
- One Purple Bag per customer per store per day. Purple Bags cannot be reused in the same store.
- No refunds on Purple Bags. No additional discounts. Online items not eligible.
- ThriftWise may refuse or limit use of the Purple Bag for any reason.
Pound Palooza / By-the-Pound Sales
- Merchandise is sold by weight at advertised rate.
- Excludes furniture, electronics, jewelry, and high-value items.
- Items must be weighed at checkout; no re-weighing or repackaging after purchase.
General Sale Terms
- Discounts apply only during designated sale period — no price adjustments for prior purchases.
- No combining discounts with other offers or promotions.
- No early access or holds on sale items.
- All merchandise sold during sales is as-is and final sale.
Final Notes
All merchandise is sold as-is. FBWC is not responsible for lost parts, accessories, or functionality issues once an item leaves the store. Purchases help provide critical services to survivors — thank you for supporting our mission!
Customer Conduct Policy
- Treat others with courtesy and respect while in our stores.
- No rude, aggressive, abusive, or threatening behavior toward staff, volunteers, or other customers.
- Staff may refuse service to anyone violating this policy.
- Disruptive individuals may be asked to leave immediately.
- We reserve the right to ban individuals for serious or repeated misconduct.
Thriftwise Delivery Policy
Thriftwise offers delivery for large furniture or oversized items. Free local delivery is available for furniture purchases over $300 before tax; standard fees apply below that amount. Delivery must be arranged at time of purchase and includes drop-off to ground-level locations. We do not offer assembly or move existing furniture. A responsible party must be present for delivery. Missed appointments may incur additional fees. All items are as-is. To cancel or reschedule, provide 24-hour notice.
Online Store Policy
All Items Are Donated and Sold As-Is
Our inventory consists of donated items that may show signs of use or age. All items are sold as-is with no guarantees.
No Refunds or Exchanges
All sales are final. Review item descriptions and photos carefully before purchasing.
Exceptions for Undisclosed Damage
- Report issues within 2–3 days of receiving the item.
- Provide clear photos of the damage and packaging.
- Claims are reviewed case by case.
Shipping Policy
Orders are typically processed and shipped within 2–3 business days. You will receive a tracking number once your order ships.
Local Pick-Up Policy
- Local pick-up is available at our Richmond Thriftwise location.
- Most orders are ready the next business day after purchase.
- Wait for confirmation before arriving and bring your order confirmation.
